There are many forms of human movement and motion monitoring. Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems is one such method, these include Accelerometers and Gyroscopes. Ten healthy adult’s gait patterns were monitored at seven different speeds. These were compared to walking patterns of a race walker. Light gates were used to control and measure walking velocities. Data was collected from triaxial accelerometers and rate gyroscopes positioned on the foot and sacrum. Preliminary results indicate that wireless inertial sensor data correlate well with conventional kinematic measures without the usual restrictions imposed on subjects during testing. These results also indicate that the use of microtechnology inertial sensors as a valuable tool in the analysis of human movement |
