Dear Colleagues!

Dear ISEA-Members!

Dear past and future Conferees!

We have been very busy with the conference and have received over 180 abstracts for technical papers from 19 different countries.  We are now in the midst of receiving the full technical papers which are due on January 3, 2012.  So far, these abstracts and papers have been excellent quality and show the great diversity of research that is currently being undertaken in the field of sports engineering around the world.

I realize that a great many of you have been busy working on submitting these papers, and we thank you for all of the time that it takes to pull together these high-quality papers.  We also realize that this is a very busy time of year for everyone and we wish you all well during this holiday season.  Thank you for taking the time to read the important updates about the conference that are included in this monthly newsletter.

The December newsletter includes updates on Conference Registration, ISEA Membership Drive, Conference Sponsorship and Exhibition Opportunities, and an Update on Paper and Poster Submissions.

The conference registration for The Engineering of Sport 9 will open on January 3, 2012

You can find the registration rates available on the conference website.  If you are currently an ISEA member for the year 2012, then there are special rates for you.  If you are not currently an ISEA member please select the non-member rate with will then included ISEA membership for 2012.  The ISEA is running an membership drive through the end of January at a discounted rate.  We encourage you to register early so that you can take advantage of that discounted rate.

If you sign up for membership directly through the ISEA, please make note of your membership number so that you can enter that number when you register for the conference.

The International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA) is offering 2012 membership at a reduced rate through January 31, 2012.  I have attached a letter from ISEA President, Kim Blair, in which he discusses the membership drive and the current activities of the association.  The conference registration rates offered during January 2012, include the reduced rate that the ISEA is offering through January 31, 2012.

The Engineering of Sport 9 conference is held every two years and attracts the world’s leading industrial and academic research and development engineers. This conference will also draw media with an eye on the London 2012 Olympic Games just two weeks later. The ISEA is the pre-eminent professional organization for the fast growing discipline of Sports Engineering research and industrial development in the world. Participation in the conference is expected to exceed 300, and your involvement through sponsorship and participation will make the conference a great success.

By sponsoring, you will be exposed to a wide range of emerging sports engineering  applications and multinational companies. Your sponsorship will be acknowledged throughout the whole conference. There are many additional benefits to be gained from different levels of sponsorship. You will be able to showcase your latest products and innovations at the single biggest sports engineering event in the world.

Exhibition Space will be directly adjacent to the plenary and breakout session rooms for the greatest exposure to participants throughout the 4-day conference. Numerous breaks allow ample time to interact with all of the participants.

We would like to thank the Mechanical Analysis Division of Mentor Graphics for joining the conference as a sponsor and exhibitor over the past month.

If your company would like to help support this international conference, showcase of your latest technologies, gain international exposure and /or speak with graduating students who have worked on sports engineering then please visit theconference website.

The deadline for submitting abstracts for full technical papers has passed.  We received over 180 high-quality abstracts and are currently waiting for many full six-page papers to be submitted by the January 3, 2012 deadline.  Each peer-reviewed and accepted six-page paper will be published by Elsevier in the hard-bound proceedings and indexed online through ScienceDirect.

We also expect to have more than 50 posters presented during the conference.  Abstracts for poster submissions will be due in the Spring.  The website and newsletters will announce the submission process for posters.

If you experience any problems or have questions about the paper or poster submission process, please email
